Programs Offered
• Emergency Financial Services Provides financial assistance to the elderly (over 55) who face eviction, or utility shutoff. • Friendly Volunteer Visitor Program Prescreened Volunteers provide companionship for our homebound senior clients. • Meals on Wheels Delivery Our volunteer picks up meals from Volunteers of America and delivers the Meals to our homebound senior clients. • Food Bank Each Thursday the Senior Assistance Center distributes food to the elderly coming into the office between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM. The food is purchased from the Food Bank of the Rockies and supplemented with staple items donated or purchased from local food chains. The Senior Assistance Center maintains a pantry for emergency food needs as well.
• Distribution of Government commodities The Senior Assistance Center is an authorized agency to complete the certification and distribution of the Food Bank of the Rockies Commodity Supplement Food Program.
• Clothing The Senior Assistance Center collects and distributes clothing, blankets and small household items to those seniors having need.
• Medical Equipment The Senior Assistance Center loans walkers, canes, crutches, and wheelchairs to the elderly at no charge for as long as the equipment is needed.
• Bus Tokens Seniors have need to get around town for shopping, health appointments and socializing. If owning a car is not affordable or driving is no longer an option the bus maybe the only means available for reliable transportation.
• Art Reach Program The Senior Assistance Center provides access to artistic and cultural events such as exhibits, musical performances, museums, theater and some sporting events.
• Living Will Distribution The Senior Assistance Center has at their office forms provided at no cost for medical durable power of attorney for health care decisions, declaration as to Medical or Surgical treatment, and information on Colorado Living Will Law of 1985.
• Information & Referral services The Senior Assistance Center at their office can direct clients to the appropriate county of Human Services for more information on state and local programs; TANF, Food Stamps, Housing, Social Security benefits, provide referrals upon request to outside organization for further client assistance. We also work with Senior’s Resource Center to assist seniors with employment services.
